Strengths
Right-handed… Pointer is a fantastic athlete and leaper, using a boost of high-energy to impact the game offensively and defensively. He may not be the most skilled player, but he uses his athleticism and springy leaping ability well to attack loose balls and the offensive glass, putting home some fantastic dunks in the process… Outside of his motor, Pointer's offensive abilities rely on time and space to get his jumper off… Defensively, Pointer plays with toughness and given his motor and athleticism, he has the versatility to defend either guard spot and small forwards as well…
Weaknesses
Pointer is not very advanced offensively with little to no scoring moves off the dribble. He is a straight-line attacker, putting his head down and forcing the drive once he gets started. He needs to put in time at the gym working on his ball-handling and jump shot. Pointer needs to be comfortable using an advanced dribble move to change direction and create separation, while also continuing to remain in control to pull-up off the dribble. Right now, he needs time and space to shoot the rock, but with work under Steve Lavin, that could change…
