#4 Malcolm Thomas | F
Note: Thomas transferred from Pepperdine to San Diego State.
Strengths

Right handed… Talk about an under the radar player. Thomas came in with almost no fanfare aside from his role for the Aztecs. Although a bitundersized, Thomas has 7'2" wingspan that led to him making a huge impact on the boards and blocking shots. He's a great athlete (and excellent leaper), capable of running the floor in transition with great quickness to finish the break…. Defensively, Thomas could be an impact player off the bench for an NBA team. He has the length and bounce to contest shots at the rim and motor and toughness to box out and pursue loose balls and rebounds. He has above-average lateral quickness that would enable him to defend on the perimeter a bit too.
Weaknesses

Thomas is undersized at 6'7"/6'8", but he has the length to combat his lack of size. Nearly a third of his touches came on the low blocks last seasons, so what kind of offensive role will he have in the NBA? He's clearly outmatched by sheer size on the post and will have his shots blocked if he doesn't change up his offensive repertoire. His perimeter game needs a lot of fine-tuning as he converted just 2 of 12 3-pointers last season.
