Position: Shooting Guard/Small Forward

Strengths

Right handed… Butler all-around play capped another impressive season for the Golden Eagles, but his stock has been on the rise with his terrific performances in Portsmouth. He doesn't do any one thing outstanding, but he does all of the little things and has terrific intangibles that we look for. He is always playing hard on both ends of the floor, possesses a terrific basketball IQ, and has the reputation of being a gym rat according to coach Buzz Williams… Offensively, Butler has improved his ability to knock down shots from 15 feet out. He appears more confident and pulls the trigger with relative ease compared to last season… He has a steady handle and doesn't force things too much. He takes what the defense gives him… Defensively, Butler was a lockdown defender at the college level. He takes pride in his defense and should be a solid defensive player at the next level, despite not possessing typical athleticism.
Weaknesses

Butler isn't a great athlete, but he has good size and leaping abilities to compensate… The biggest needs for development for Butler is his perimeter shooting- if he can improve his consistency from beyond the arc, he will add another tool to his already dangerous game… His athleticism will hold him back offensively from creating for himself and others, but he projects to be a solid role player.
