Strengths

Right-handed… What a break-out season it's been for the former benchwarmer. This long, athletic 7-footer moves well on the floor so its not difficult to fathom his productivity. He is broad-shouldered and has plenty of room to grow and continue add strength to his lengthy frame. Withey has excellent potential, but we will delve into further detail below about his lagging offensive game. He shows promise with his extremely soft touch on a baby hook or potentially effective drop-step. Withey is only averaging a couple of free-throw attempts a game, but connecting at a high percentage rate, which leads us to believe there is some potential to Withey's mid-range game as well. As a 7-footer than can step outside to 12-feet, Withey would certainly shoot up draft boards if effective… The biggest impact he makes on the game at this point is as a shot-blocker and defensive intimidator; a majority of his swats come in post defense and coming as a help defender. He is right-handed dominant and it shows with about 95 percent of his blocks coming with his right-hand…
Weaknesses

Withey is still raw in most aspects of his game. Despite being a year older than most of his classmates (denied transfer from Arizona before the start of his freshman season), he had logged 200 minutes for the Jayhawks in two seasons, appearing in just 41 games. Withey lacks toughness and the go-to scoring moves to score in the low-post and would certainly benefit from added strength to his lower body in this area as well. He has a tendency to fade away from the basket or use slow and deliberate footwork in a post-move. Learning post and counter moves, along with more experience and work put in would have Withey as a much more dangerous post presence and effective scorer…
