#5 C.J. Fair | F
Stats

Hometown: Baltimore, MD

Height: 6'8"

Weight: 215

Position: Small Forward

Team: Syracuse

Class: Senior
Strengths

Right-handed… Fair has excellent size at a 6'8" combo-forward with a solid frame and very good length, but an even better skill set for the future small forward. Although he is quite raw on both ends of the floor, there is so much to like about Fair. He is a solid athlete with quickness that can handle the ball in the open floor or streak down the wing and finish well above the rim… He mostly plays off the ball, operating offensively basically in spot-up opportunity, cuts to the rim and on offensive put-backs. With Fair's size, length and bounce, he is one of the conference's better offensive rebounders and easily can put the ball right back for a bucket… Fair is a high-energy, high-motor player with good floor awareness to find the open floor or do the dirty work in finishing up plays on the boards… He shows excellent body control when finishing in the lane… Fair plays both on top and on the bottom of the Syracuse 2-3 zone, showing nice activity with his hands in the passing lanes and attacking the glass when the shot goes up.
Weaknesses

Despite his basic ability to handle the ball a bit on the perimeter, Fair plays mostly from 12-feet and in either on the low-post, high-post or just outside the lane on the wing. TO take full advantage of his talent, Fair needs to build on his basic ball-handling skills and develop the confidence and comfortability to handle it and create from himself on the perimeter. He has shown glimpses of potential in creating for himself, flashing a rip-through and a long, rangy first step to get by his defender or a spin move in a flash towards the baseline and finish with a dunk….But his biggest area of weakness is his perimeter shooting ability right now. He form is inconsistent when studying his foul shot and the few jumpers he does take, which isn't surprising given his field-goal percentage on jump shots.
