Point Guards who are selected with the #1 Overall Pick

In the 2010 NBA Draft, the consensus number 1 pick is Kentucky Point Guard John Wall. Many compare him to 2008 #1 overall pick Derrick Rose. Many already think Derrick Rose is a superstar and many believe that Wall is already as good if not better than Rose. Here is a list of the last 4 Point Guards who were selected first overall in NBA history.  John Lucas II, Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson, Derrick Rose. All of these players have had or are having great careers. It certainly looks like if Wall is drafted #1 overall he will live up to the hype.

We will see which team wins the lottery, because it is possible that some team with a point guard already might select a different player. If Wall is not taken with the first pick, look for Evan Turner, DeMarcus Cousins or Derrick Favors to go #1. Turner is not far behind Wall on GM's draft boards, it is more about what that team needs to win right now. The New Jersey Nets have the greatest chance to win the draft lottery, but it is not a lock that they will win the lottery and get the number 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. In 2008 the Bulls did not have a great chance to win the lottery and they did. They selected Point Guard Derrick Rose and he has turned the Bulls back into a playoff contender. GM's are hoping that John Wall will be able to do the same for their team.
