Andre Drummond - A Double-Double Machine

The Detroit Pistons are off to a torrid start and are 3rd in the Eastern Conference with a 5-2 record after 7 games. Andre Drummond, the 6'11" monster is dominating from the Center position. Drummond is 7 for 7 in the Double-Double category. After 7 games, he is averaging 19.4 points and 19.6 rebounds and has a high game of 29 points and a different high game of 29 rebounds. According to Elias Sports Bureau Drummond is the first player since Wilt Chamberlain to record 135 points and 135 rebounds through 7 games. Only 3 players in league history have ever averaged 20 and 20 and they are Chamberlain, Bob Pettit and Jerry Lucas.

The reason for Drummond's dominance on the glass appears to be his positioning leading to an increase of rebound chances. Nobody should hold their breath for a 20/20 season. Drummond has career averages of 12.3 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. Look for Drummond to finish the season circling around his usual 13 and 13 or even a possible increase, but certainly not 20/20.
