McGary to Miss 5 - 7 Weeks

The 21st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder was Mitch McGary from Michigan. The story of McGary's career so far has been the battle of potential, off the court issues, and injuries. A back injury cut his sophomore season short missing all but 8 games, but was still drafted in the first round of the draft based upon his immense potential. At the beginning of the Thunder's training camp, McGary said that his body was back to 100%.

McGary was looking to show his teammates and doubters what he was capable of at the start of the preseason. McGary and the Thunder squared off against the Denver Nuggets in the team's first preseason game. He did not disappoint his teammates and coaching staff as he scored 14 points on 7 - 14 shooting with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. The talk of McGary stealing some minutes from OKC's front court looked to be true, that was until McGary suffered an injury during the game. He was diagnosed with a fracture in left foot and will miss 5 - 7 weeks. McGary was receiving praise from teammates including superstar Kevin Durant. Now he will look to heal fast and gain back the confidence of Oklahoma's coaching staff and teammates.
