Florida's Young Continues To Disappoint

In a short-handed effort for the Gators, Florida's once-promising center Patric Young managed just 2 points and 2 rebounds in 20 minutes as a starter; this makes it four straight games in single-digit points for the senior.

Scouts were once enamored with Young's burly 6'9" frame and tough-as-nails mentality, but have fizzled out to the point of Young falling off many teams' big boards in 2013-14. The lefty big has yet to develop a consistent post game or any offensive game for that matter. His free-throw rate increase last season, but Young has seen his accuracy from the charity stripe decline in each of his previous seasons in Gainesville.

Even as a defensive presence, Young's efforts have been underwhelming. Granted Florida has had some solid depth and versatility in lineups the past few seasons, Young has yet to average better than 2 blocks nor 6.5 rebounds per game.

With three forward vying for minutes (Scottie Wilbekin, Damontre Harris and Dorian Finney-Smith) suspended for the opener, Young was expected to have a bigger impact, but once again, he disappointed.
