Biggest Upset of the Round

No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles Defeats No. 2 Georgetown Hoyas 78-68

The largest upset of the tournament of course was No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast University beating the No. 2 Georgetown Hoyas. This wasn't an upset as much as  it was a thrashing of the Hoyas. FGCU were up to at halftime by only 2 points even know it could have been a lot worse for Georgetown. Sherwood Brown of FGCU dropped 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while fellow teammate Bernard Thompson of the Atlantic Sun Champions scored 23 and collected 7 rebounds. The Eagles used a 21-2 second half run to pull away from the Hoyas. This was only the second time in NCAA Tournament history that a No. 15 seed upset a No. 2 seed. Georgetown's Star player and the Big East Player of the Year Otto Porter jr. was held to only 13 points. Even know Porter's teammate Markel Starks led the way for the Hoyas with 23 points, that wasn't even close to filling the large void created by Porter Jr's disappointing performance.
