New Mexico's Alex Kirk, a 2013 1st Round Pick

Alex Kirk, the starting center for the New Mexico Lobos, has had his ups and down in his redshirt-sophomore year, but when it matters most, Kirk has been tremendous. On the verge of their fourth Mountain West Conference regular-season title in five years, Kirk is the foundation of this season's success.

NBA scouts love Kirk's size (7", 250 pounds), but surprising agility and athletic abilities that allow him to get down the floor well and play in the mid-range. During a recent win over San Diego State, Kirk knocked down 8-of-12 shots from the field, including all 3 of his 3-point attempts and several more from 12-15 feet out. He added in 6-of-6 from the foul line to complete his stat line of 7 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks and 25 points. He was already getting some 1st Round love coming off of a 19-point, 10-rebound, 3-block performance in handing Colorado State their first home loss of the year.

New Mexico has the talent to make a Sweet 16 run and beyond in the 2013 NCAA Tournament and if Kirk continues his hot play, he will certainly see his NBA Stock continue to rise into the mid-1st Round.
