Jahii Carson Breakout Candidate For Arizona State

A year ago, coach Herb Sendek had lofty expectations for his four-star freshman point guard, Jahii Carson, but everything was put on hold as eligibility issues left the Sun Devils without the speedster. Now, word out of Arizona State is that the 5'11" Carson is ready to lead the team (especially as Trent Lockett has left the program).

Even with a small stature, standing under 6-feet, Carson has quickness and athleticism that measure off the charts. If he was just a few inches taller, Carson has lottery-type potential. Expect the Arizona State product to excel in the half-court setting, changing gears to breaking down the defense and getting to the rim, or in transition where Carson is a one-man fast break.

Unfortunately, he cannot do it all as the Sun Devils lack plenty of talent surrounding their point guard. The Pac-12 should be much stronger this year compared to year's past and Carson's eligibility is a crucial step for Arizona State to head in the right direction, but they are still a couple of years away from surrounding him with competitive talent.
