Marcus Smart To Start for Oklahoma State Cowboys

Freshman Marcus Smart, has been named the starter at point guard for the Oklahoma Cowboys in the 2012-13 season. The 6'3" guard is an explosive athlete that can play either backcourt spot, but obviously coach Travis Ford feels that Smart at the point gives the team more flexibility with Markell Brown at shooting guard, Le'Bryan Nash at small forward and Brian Williams and Michael Cobbins in the frontcourt. The young, but experienced lineup, will be led by Smart, who, if he can prove heady point guard play, could earn a first-round grade as a 2013 Draft prospect, especially with the weak crop of floor generals ahead.

Smart was a member of the U-18 Team USA team that won gold in June by averaging 7.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and team-highs with 20 assists and 18 steals. Smart has the quickness and strength to present a difficult matchup on both ends of the floor, so Big 12 beware.
