Creighton Bluejays Ready To Fly

Creighton rode versatile forward Doug McDermott to one of the top overall seasons in college basketball last year when the Bluejays averaged 79.2 points (ninth best), 17.6 assists (second) and shot over 50 percent from the field (first). Dermott is once again a National Player of the Year contender after putting up 22.9 points, third best in the country) and 8.2 rebounds and will again lead the attack, but he is not alone. Enter point guard Grant Gibbs (7 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5 assists) and center Gregory Echenique (9.7 points, 7.3 rebounds in 23 minutes per game).

Consistency is key for Creighton to advance to the Sweet 16, but with their returning talent of three all-league caliber players, and the loss of much of perennial contender Wichita State's talent, the Bluejays are the clear cut favorite in the Missouri Valley and a top 15 national ranking.
