Brandon Paul Finally Breaks Out

The Illinois shooting guard had the game of his life, the one scouts were waiting for, as he scored 43 points, including the final 15 of the game as the Fighting Illini upset Ohio State at home this week. Now, how will he follow this break-out game up?

For three years, scouts were looking for this 6'4" guard to combine his perimeter jumper with his tremendous athleticism and become a force scoring around the rim off penetration and knocking down jump shots from all over. Paul would show bits and pieces of his talents, going for 19 against Missouri and 21 against Minnesota this season. He was moving up on our radar due to his consistency and production, now scoring in double-figures in seven straight games and 11 of Illinois' last 12 compared to last season where Paul only strung together three back-to-back-to-back double-digit scoring efforts and 13 overall. Paul still needs to control his shot selection to continue moving up, but this super-athlete is starting to realize his skills and potential.
