Top rookies in the NBA - 2-8-11

Blake Griffin - Los Angeles Clippers

Of course the favorite and almost sure bet for rookie of the year is the Blake Griffin. Griffin is boasting monster numbers averaging just less than 23 points per game and just fewer than 13 rebounds on the season. Griffin is shooting at an impressive .515% clip from the field. Griffin has increased in scoring average over four straight months. Griffin has earned himself a trip to the All-star game and the Slam Dunk contest in his rookie year.

DeMarcus Cousins - Sacramento Kings

Nobody doubted Cousins' ability on the court. It was his off the court issues that dropped Cousins to 5th in the draft. Cousins' team has not won as many games as Griffin's team and Cousins does not have the numbers that Griffin has but, Cousins has been on fire lately. Cousins has tallied 20 points or more in 4 of his last 5 games to go along with 10+ rebounds in 4 out of his last 5 games. What makes his streak more impressive is that it has come against the Lakers and some of the other top teams in the league. DeMarcus Cousins has a ton of momentum and should carry it with into the second half of the season.

Landry Fields - New York Knicks

Landry Fields can do it all on the court. Fields can score, rebound and knock down the long ball. Fields is having a tremendous season but lacks the consistency. Fields benefits from the support of his teammates. Fields is averaging an absurd 7.2 rebounds per game as a guard while hitting 39% of his shots from behind the arc. Fields would be in the running for rookie of the year if not for being a rookie in the same season as Blake Griffin.
