Woods to transfer

Junior center Tony Wood has received a release from his scholarship at Wake Forest yesterday and will be visiting other programs to pursue his future basketball career. He was suspended last month after being arrested on assault charges when he attacked a female student.

Woods never reached his potential with the Demon Deacons and perhaps a fresh start is what is best for him. He averaged 4.6 points and 3.2 rebounds last season in 31 appearances last season. He was expected to be the team's starting center under new head coach Jeff Bzdelik.

Several options include Alabama, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida,Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech - all schools Woods was interested in when he was being recruited to play at in 2007.
